We hope this tutorial will help you to get the good old Windows Photo Viewer back on Windows 10. It’s great at handling large photo libraries and can quickly open larger images. This app is more than just a photo viewer and it’s a personal favorite of mine.
Once done, head to Settings > System > Default apps and scroll down to Photo Viewer and select Windows Photo Viewer. Even in the days of Windows 7 when users had a pretty good default photo viewing app, IrfanView was still popular. This will help to get Windows Photo Viewer installed on your machine.
This, however, gets tricky if you have installed Windows 10 from scratch. You can just select Windows Photo Viewer and you’re good to go. Click on it and you will get an option to change it. Here you will see, Photos App set as default. To do that, head to the Settings>System > Default apps and scroll down to Photo Viewer. This means you can directly enable it and set as the default photo viewer without any trouble. Then in Windows Photo Gallery I convert it to a People Tag. If you wish to convert the Picasa Name tags to Windows Photo Gallery tags a way I have done it is by using the aforementioned tool to add the People's names as a subject keyword. The app is still there if you have upgraded from an older version like Windows 7 or Windows 8. Windows Photo Gallery uses a different standard than that of Picasa Name Tags for its People Tags. That being said, I still wanted the old Photo viewer and if you too want it then head below and follow the steps to get it. Don’t get me wrong here, the Photos App is great for viewing and giving photos a light touch without using apps like Photoshop or even Paint. The photo app sure was great but I still liked the old Photo Viewer. When the Configure Picasa Photo Viewer window opens, you have two options Ī. Click on Picasa 3 > Configure Picasa Photo Viewerģ. But things have changed, photo viewers are now included with all decent operating systems - so I stopped updating Imager somewhere around 2009. Click on the Orb (Start button) and click on All Programs (Start > Program Files in Windows XP )Ģ. Back in 2001-03 FuturixImager used to be a Top 5 photo viewer/editor for Windows. Note: I used Picasa 3 installed on Windows Vista. If you have any comments or questions, please post them below. Whether the Windows Picture viewer or the Picasa Photo Viewer is preferred is a question of taste, either way I have highlighted the instructions on enabling and disabling this feature. The Picasa photo viewer was intended as a replacement for Windows built-in picture viewer. If you’ve been using Picasa 3 for some time you either love or dislike the new Picasa Photo Viewer.
